Pondo ng Pinoy Launches CFA Projects

JUNE 17TH 2011

Poverty alleviation, as one of CFA’s three priority themes, is the primary objective behind our media campaign in support of Pondo ng Pinoy.

On June 9, 2011, three projects initiated and produced by CFA (with the help of Missio) were launched by Pondo ng Pinoy during the celebration of its 7th Anniversary at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.

In a program attended by several thousand parishioners and church workers, the Pondo ng Pinoy Foundation launched the DVD collection of the first season of CFA’s “Tilamsik” TV series and its one-hour video documentary, “Living the Pillars of Pondo ng Pinoy,” which summarizes various Pondo-funded programs. Excerpts of “Living the Pillars” as well as the 30-second public service announcement on the Pondo campaign, also produced by CFA, were shown before the celebration of the Holy Mass.

The second CFA project launched during the program was a photo exhibit of selected Pondo projects which highlight the values of stewardship, community and self-reliance. A dominant feature of the exhibit is the focus on the stories and faces of people who have benefited from Pondo-funded projects. The portable Photo Exhibit, which is also titled “Tilamsik”, has an English and Tagalog version, and is scheduled to be brought to different parishes and schools all over the country.

Cardinal Gaudencio Rosales, founder of Pondo ng Pinoy, blessed the exhibit right before the beginning of the program, while priest-coordinators whose projects were featured in the exhibit proudly posed in front of their photo displays.

The final CFA project announced that day was the new Poster Design Contest for Pondo beneficiaries centering on the theme CAPACITY BUILDING AND COMMUNITY SELF-RELIANCE. CFA had previously organized an extremely successful poster design contest for students in 2008, which resulted in the selection of highly creative and attractive posters that were eventually used by the Pondo Foundation in its greeting cards and souvenir items. The new Poster Design competition has an adult and youth category, offering cash prizes to three winners to be selected in each category. Each entry must be endorsed by the community or parish that has received funding assistance from Pondo ng Pinoy. To download the contest rules and entry form, please click here.

During the launch, a short video presentation was shown to explain each project. Fr. Erick Santos, one of the program hosts, invited the assembly to be part of the CFA-Pondo programs and experience what fullness of life means.

Since 2007, the Communication Foundation for Asia has undertaken media projects in partnership with Pondo ng Pinoy in order to spread the core message of solidarity and love of neighbor. CFA’s Electronic Media and Publications Departments have produced print and video materials for Pondo ng Pinoy, including a primer booklet with illustrated stories of the Pondo beneficiaries and a 12-episode series of half-hour documentaries on Pondo beneficiaries, entitled “Tilamsik: Mga Kwento ng Pondo ng Pinoy”, broadcast on TV Maria.
