CFA Produces theme Song for the Celebration of the Year of Parish

Written by: Pie Mabanta-Fenomeno

MAY 19th 2017

The Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), in preparing the country for the quincentennial celebration of history and faith, designated a 9-year journey for the New Evangelization from 2013 until 2021. This year has been dedicated as Year of the Parish as Communion of Communities and focuses on the quality of faith life within the dioceses and parishes. The celebration aims to remind and revive the faithful of their very essence: participation in loving service. ONE, an original composition of the Communication Foundation for Asia (CFA), captures this message. The song invites us to look beyond the superficial classifications and realize how we are united in Christ’s mission. You can download the song with instrumental or music sheet here:

I walk up, you run down
We sing a song, they dance around
But at the day’s end, we are each other’s friends

From diff’rent places, we have come
Celebrating, communicating as one
We are diversely rich, with loving service our niche

When our eyes reflect compassion
When our hearts follow Christ’s mission
I cannot tell the diff’rences of our faces, of our places, of our races, of our graces

When our hands work to serve, when our feet travel God’s curve
The lines that divide, disappear
The bond that unites become clear

Your serving hands will reveal
How our wounded hearts will heal
When we learn what loving and sharing brings
When we live, what communion really means
